Appointment of the president of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) by the caretaker prime minister of Pakistan has been challenged in the Islamabad High Court (IHC), 24NewsHD TV reported on Saturday.
According to the plaintiff, caretaker prime minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar did not have the mandate to appoint Tariq Hussain Masoori Bugti as president of the PHF and that he made this appointment in violation of the constitution.
Taking action on the petition, IHC has issued notices to the respondents in this case. Petitioner Naseer Awan said the interim government made this appointment in violation of Section 230 of the Elections Act 2017. He also gave the reference of the “Khawaja Muhammad Asif vs The Federation of Pakistan” case.
The court accepted the case as maintainable and directed the respondents to submit their replies within two weeks.
The petitioner has made former prime minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar, ministry of inter-provincial coordination, Pakistan Sports Board, Pakistan Olympics Association and Tariq Bugti respondents in this case.
