Senior pakistani stage and film actor Sohail Ahmed has expressed strong disappointment regarding the false use of performing art platform ‘Theatre’ in Pakistan.

“Theatre is such a wonderful thing and I feel that theatre is most influential among all the performing art platforms. It can emend the society with great extent. As we have heard that Hindus has introduced theatre in order to promote their religious rituals and you can witness they are still firm in it. They must include religion related scenes during their films they make their people learned regarding their religious doctrines through films and dramas and we did not perform such things in our country. We should also promote our religion, rules, regulations, laws and duties through theatre.We are unfortunate that instead of making all that (religious duties) learn to our people we just made them a mock. We have associated strange jokes with our religious rituals. Someone has said that government has imposed restrictions/ban on vulgar content witnessed in theatres and other comes into defense saying we did not commit a murder instead we just entertain public instead of imposing ban they should make us hang. So, I said on all that conversation that do not say such things because all the stuff which has been shown in the theatres must make you able to hang. We have mocked our religious doctrines and duties (May Allah forgive us). Actually, in our performing art field no one has decided certain line-length even no ruler has considered it important to pay attention on the presentation and protection of the platform theatre. Performing art is very precious thing it can not only use for entertainment but also use for the improvement of society. Some so-called wise people which are associate with this field provide excuses regarding the theatre content by saying we just offered people as per their demands. My opinion is contradictory here I always advice don’t show the people what they demand make your content capable to witness.”
